From November 16 to December 31, 2026, the Walloon Region is launching a public consultation to gather feedback on its draft national action plan for 2027-2032, designed to prevent the unintentional introduction and spread of invasive alien species in Belgium.

This public consultation aims to allow everyone to submit their observations on the proposed measures. It is part of the implementation of Regulation (EU) No 1143/2014. Member States are required to identify pathways for the introduction and spread of species of Union concern and to develop action plans to reduce the risks of dissemination of listed species.
The plan covers the main pathways for introduction and spread identified in Belgium for 114 invasive alien species of Union concern. It includes, in particular, the support and implementation of codes of conduct negotiated with stakeholders from various sectors: production and sale of ornamental plants or pets, fishing, aquaculture, and earth-moving operators.
In accordance with European legislation and the Environmental Code, this project is subject to public consultation in all regions of the country. The authority invites citizens to contribute to improving the proposed measures.
To participate, simply complete the online questionnaire available until December 31, 2026. A paper version can be obtained from your local municipality. The documents submitted for consultation are accessible in the 'Documents' tab.
For any questions or clarifications regarding the public consultation, you can contact your municipality, which has designated a contact person, or via the email address: invasives@spw.wallonie.be.
