The Walloon Government has approved an increase in revenue from TEC ticket and pass sales, aiming to raise it from 10% to 14% of total funding. This decision will lead to a tenfold increase in the price of the bus pass for seniors and young adults aged 18-25, rising from 12 euros to 120 euros per year. These new tariffs will take effect on February 1, 2027. It is therefore advisable to quickly subscribe to the current pass to benefit from the reduced rate and save 108 euros.
The commune of Lasne offers a personalized assistance service for ordering this pass, particularly helpful for individuals less comfortable with digital technologies. This service includes advice on the most efficient routes. To benefit, simply contact the commune at 02/6341806 or by email at fabrice.cecchi@lasne.be to schedule an appointment. Nearly 60 seniors have already taken advantage of this support.
Feedback from senior users highlights drawbacks such as the low frequency of buses (around one per hour in Lasne), the lack of evening and weekend service, and sometimes complicated connections with trains or other bus lines. However, a recurring positive point concerns longer journeys to cities like Louvain-la-Neuve and Brussels, which help avoid the stress of traffic and parking.
Solutions combining bus and train, or car and bus, prove to be comfortable. Some seniors use the bus to reach nearby train stations, while others drive to the large parking lot at Mont-Saint-Jean (Waterloo) to take bus line W to Brussels, benefiting from its high frequency and extended operating hours. Testimonials emphasize the tranquility, the absence of parking stress, the cleanliness of the buses, and the politeness of the drivers.
Building on last year's success, the commune of Lasne is organizing a new information session for seniors on using public transport, now including trains. The event, scheduled for Thursday, November 5, at 2:30 PM at the Maison Communale, will provide an opportunity to share experiences and tips. Registration is open at 02/6341806 or fabrice.cecchi@lasne.be.
