These events aim to pass on history to younger generations, show gratitude to veterans, and unite the community around the values of peace, solidarity, and freedom. The Municipality invites all citizens to participate.
The program begins on Sunday, November 8, 2026, at 3:00 PM in Virginal with the rekindling of the Flame of Remembrance in front of the former municipal house. A procession will follow to the 1914-1918 war memorial in Virginal cemetery.
On Monday, November 9, 2026, a procession of the Flame of Remembrance will travel through the entity. Departure is scheduled for 1:00 PM from the Virginal Tram plateau, with stops in Haut-Ittre at 1:45 PM and Ittre at 2:00 PM. The flame will then be handed over to the Oisquercq section around 2:30 PM.
On Wednesday, November 11, 2026, ceremonies will be held in Haut-Ittre (9:00 AM), Ittre (10:00 AM), and Virginal (10:30 AM). These will include a mass, a laying of flowers at the war memorial, and, in Ittre and Virginal, an official address. The Royale Harmonie de Virginal will accompany the ceremonies in Haut-Ittre and Ittre.
These commemorations highlight the importance of preserving historical memory and showing respect to those who defended values and freedom. The Municipality of Ittre thanks the patriotic associations, the flag bearers, the Royale Harmonie de Virginal, and all participants.
