Your children have grown up and you have toys they no longer use? Give them a second life during the traditional collection organized by in BW and other Walloon waste management inter-municipalities. The collected toys will be given to local partners who will bring joy to other children, while raising awareness about reuse and waste reduction.
Since 2003, this annual initiative in October, in consultation with COPIDEC (Walloon waste management inter-municipalities), has given a second life to over 160,000 toys in the in BW area. A bicycle collection has also been organized annually in April since 2007.
All toys in good and complete condition are accepted: comic books, board games, puzzles, toy cars, dolls, construction sets, balls, etc. Plush toys and battery-operated toys are discouraged for hygiene and environmental reasons.
This action is part of in BW's 2026-2028 Strategic Plan, which aims to encourage responsible consumption patterns and a more sustainable society. The local prevention plan includes 'zero waste' workshops, reusable cup rentals at municipal events, 'reusable containers welcome' campaigns in local shops, compost bin purchases and composting workshops, installation of 'give-boxes' in municipalities, youth movements, sports clubs, and the dissemination of a public cleanliness guide and 'nudging' campaigns.
The 'Espaces Récup’' (Recovery Spaces), launched in 2022, are also expanding in the recycling centers, diverting reusable items from the waste stream. The 6th space opened in 2025 in Rebecq.
The list of participating recycling centers is available at dechets.inbw.be/trouver-un-recyparc. Saturday opening hours are from 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM. No points will be deducted at the access gate for a single deposit of reusable toys.
