A major advancement for road safety is announced in the village of Noiseux. During the first quarter of 2027, the installation of a section speed camera and the reduction of the speed limit from 70 km/h to 50 km/h will become effective on Rue de l’Ourthe.
These measures, the result of many years of requests and consultations, were taken in agreement with Madam Mayor, the Head of the Traffic Service of the Condroz-Famenne Police Zone, the SPW, and its District Chief. An agreement has finally been signed.
The operation of the section speed camera relies on two distant control points. A first camera, located near the second house when coming from Baillonville, records the vehicle's license plate and exact passage time. A second camera, positioned at the height of a small wall separating a house from a chalet, again identifies the vehicle and its passage time. The system then calculates the average speed by dividing the known distance between the two cameras by the travel time.
The Mayor plans to propose complementary arrangements to the SPW to further enhance safety in various locations. Other villages will also benefit from similar measures soon.
