A population alert exercise was carried out by the Commune of Somme-Leuze on October 1, 2026. The objective was to test the effectiveness of the BE-Alert system, which sent 639 messages via SMS and email to registered residents.
Results show that 95% of SMS messages reached their destination, while 4% were not received. Citizens are therefore advised to check their details on www.be-alert.be. For emails, 100% were successfully received by recipients.
This exercise aims to improve the commune's preparedness to quickly warn its inhabitants in case of an emergency situation. The commune encourages individuals not yet registered to sign up at www.be-alert.be.
Further information on emergency preparedness, including a brochure from the National Crisis Centre, is available on the communal website. For any inquiries, Charlène DEMARS can be contacted at 086/32.02.57 or via email at charlene.demars@sommeleuze.be.
The commune thus reaffirms its readiness for emergency situations under the slogan #PrêtsEnsemble.
