Every week, tons of bulky waste are collected in the municipalities of the Namur province. The Ressourcerie Namuroise is developing a social economy project that combines reuse and professional integration, placing sustainable transition at the heart of job creation and support for individuals distant from the labor market.
From Suarlée, the Ressourcerie organizes the collection of bulky waste, aiming to preserve the reuse potential of objects. These are then sorted, cleaned, repaired, restored, or transformed before being resold in RAVIK stores. In 2025, 4,984 tons of bulky waste were collected, with over 80% valorized. The Fabrik Menuiserie illustrates this approach by transforming end-of-life furniture wood into new material and durable furniture.
As a cooperative society approved as a social and integration enterprise, the Ressourcerie Namuroise places people at the center of its action. It supports individuals facing difficulties accessing the job market in various trades. In 2025, it had 49 full-time equivalents, including 27 in integration, and welcomed 115 workers under article 60 contracts through partnerships with several CPAS. The goal is to develop their skills and prepare their professional path.
This model addresses several societal challenges: it limits waste and preserves resources by extending the lifespan of objects. It also contributes to social cohesion and the economic dynamism of the territory by creating local jobs and integration pathways. The economic solidity of the model sustainably supports its social and environmental missions.
The Ressourcerie Namuroise exemplifies Sustainable Development Goal 8 (decent work and economic growth) and SDG 12 (responsible consumption and production) by promoting socio-professional integration and reuse.
