BEP Environnement is deploying on-site activities to raise citizen awareness about waste reduction, featuring games, workshops, and a mobile press in the municipalities of Hastière, Hamois, and Havelange.

BEP Environnement, through its 'Prevention' unit, supports municipalities in implementing waste reduction awareness campaigns. These initiatives aim to foster lasting behavioral change through simple, concrete actions that can be easily replicated daily.
Waste prevention starts before sorting, influencing our consumption habits. Repairing, reusing, sharing, making things oneself, or limiting waste are essential actions to reduce our environmental impact. BEP Environnement makes these practices more accessible and enjoyable through its workshops and activities.
Three concrete examples were implemented in September: in Hastière, during the Children's Festival, young attendees were educated about Fast Fashion and the water consumption involved in clothing production. In Hamois, at the inauguration of the Schaltin Plain, a mobile apple pressing workshop helped prevent food waste and promoted waste sorting.
In Havelange, on September 20th, as part of the Cheese Route Festival, BEP facilitators emphasized the importance of reducing waste before recycling, highlighting the degradation time of litter and promoting local, seasonal purchasing.
These initiatives demonstrate that awareness is better conveyed through experience, that young people can become agents of change, and that zero waste can be learned through play. Local action, in partnership with municipalities, integrates waste prevention into citizens' daily lives.
BEP Environnement reminds us that numerous simple solutions exist to produce less waste, thereby promoting a more circular economy. Repairing, making, sharing, or reusing are accessible actions for everyone to contribute effectively.
