Weather conditions are once again evolving unfavorably in Luxembourg province. The weather will remain dry in the coming days, and from Tuesday, rising temperatures and strengthening winds are expected to increase the fire risk.
From Monday, September 28, to Thursday, October 1, inclusive, strict prohibitions will apply in woods and forests: lighting or maintaining a fire will be forbidden without exception, and smoking will also be prohibited.
Throughout the provincial territory, fireworks, pyrotechnic displays, flying lanterns, and other fire-based spectacles will also be banned during this period.
Barbecues remain authorized outside of woods and forests, on both public and private land, provided they are continuously supervised by an adult, kept sufficiently far from dry vegetation and combustible materials, and that means to extinguish any potential fire start are immediately available.
These measures are being taken following the latest analyses from the 'Fire Risk' Expertise Cell, which indicate a worsening situation. The risk, currently moderate, is expected to become high from September 29, due to the combined effects of dry vegetation, lack of rainfall, rising temperatures, and strengthening winds.
The situation will continue to be closely monitored. The Commune of Gouvy thanks everyone for their vigilance and for respecting these precautionary measures.
