The Municipality of Gouvy is organizing a free tree distribution on Saturday, November 21st, as part of the Tree Week dedicated to passerine birds.

As part of the 2026 Tree Week, focused on passerine birds, the Municipality of Gouvy will hold a free tree distribution on the morning of Saturday, November 21st. This event, open to all residents in the spirit of equity, will take place from 9 AM to 12 PM at the Communal Garage, located at Rue du Haut Mî 6 in Courtil (6671 Gouvy).
Participants can choose from a variety of plants, including service tree, chestnut, common walnut, buckthorn, guelder rose, field maple, red currant, medlar, small-leaved lime, white willow, wild cherry, dog rose, dogwood, and hazelnut.
The program will begin with a guided walk in partnership with the Tourist Office and the Parc Naturel des Deux Ourthes. Following this, the Department of Nature and Forests (DNF) will provide personalized advice during the plant distribution. A new feature this year is a family card game on the year's theme.
Wallonia encourages the planting of trees and hedges as a concrete response to climate change, heatwaves, and floods. These natural arrangements help limit water runoff, reduce erosion and flood risks, while providing coolness during hot periods. They also play a vital role in biodiversity, offering habitats and food resources for various species.
Wallonia financially supports these initiatives through a Planting Subsidy, accessible to citizens, economic actors, public authorities, and farmers, under certain conditions. All information is available on the Wallonia website.
