The development of local energy communities, involving citizens, businesses, and farmers, is progressing in the Pays de l'Ourthe.

The initiative to establish an energy community, bringing together citizens, businesses, and farmers from the region, is actively moving forward. These stakeholders are collaborating to devise a new approach to locally producing, sharing, and consuming electricity.
Two participatory workshops, organized with the assistance of Energie Commune, have already made concrete progress in building this community. The first workshop focused on governance, working on drafting the statutes that will define the community's operations and rules.
The second workshop, centered on techno-economic aspects, addressed key questions such as balancing electricity production and consumption, the price for sharing electricity among members, and how to distribute available electricity among participants.
At each workshop, the participation of numerous citizens, businesses, and farmers contributed to discussions and advanced the project, demonstrating a strong collective dynamic to build a model suited to the territory's realities and needs.
In parallel, another energy community is also being established in the Pays de l'Ourthe, this time among the local authorities of the region. These two complementary dynamics explore the possibilities of local electricity sharing.
The launch of both communities is anticipated for 2027. Their official names will be revealed soon.
