In September 2026, the Municipality of Waterloo celebrated several couples during a ceremony dedicated to diamond and golden wedding anniversaries. This event highlighted the longevity of their unions and their mutual commitment over the decades.
Among the honored couples were Albert Counet and Madeleine Olislagers, Bekkaï Ahmed ben Abdelkader and Touria El Guendouz, Daniel Leemans and Eugenie Bain, Giuseppe Piazza and Maria Ferraro, Guy Ninane and Madeleine Keesemaecker, Henri De Coster and Monique Bellis, Laurent Somers and Marguerithe De Keyser, Michel Tignol and Geneviève Pochet, Pierre Frenay and Marie Fanchamps, as well as Richard Storm and Arlette Laroche. The municipality also congratulated Staffan Lagerwall and Lillemor Sonnenstein for their exceptional journey.
