The Municipality of Walhain is evolving its communication tools by launching official WhatsApp channels. This initiative aims to offer more accessible information, in line with current usage habits of the application, one of the most popular in Belgium.
These WhatsApp channels serve to complement existing communication methods without replacing them. Citizens will continue to receive municipal information via the website, weekly newsletter, social media (Facebook, Instagram), the « Walhain en poche » app, the « Walh'infos » bulletin, and public display boards.
Dissemination via WhatsApp will enable quick, direct, and practical sharing of essential information. Only important news, practical information on municipal services, events organized or supported by the Municipality, public notices, and specific initiatives will be published.
Particular attention is given to seniors with the creation of a dedicated channel. This channel will broadcast activities of the Communal Consultative Council for Seniors (CCCA), events intended for them, and useful information regarding services for seniors.
Subscribers' privacy is guaranteed: numbers are not visible to other users, the Municipality cannot contact subscribers directly, and no exchange or discussion is possible on the channel, which functions solely as an information channel. Subscription is free and voluntary, with the option to unsubscribe at any time.
