Primary school students in the municipality of Walhain have elected their class representatives, an initiative designed to introduce them to democratic principles and civic engagement.

Across the municipality's various school sites, 5th-grade students participated in electing their class representatives. Following a campaign period from September 15 to 30, 2026, six young students were elected and took their oath on October 19, 2026, at 7:30 PM before the Communal Council. This marks the official start of their civic commitment.
Through this process, the children learned about how elections work and the principles of democracy. After preparing their electoral campaigns, presenting their ideas, and defending their proposals to their classmates, they voted to elect their representatives.
This experience helped them better understand the importance of participation, listening, respecting each other's opinions, and commitment to the group – essential values for becoming responsible and active citizens!
It was a great opportunity to connect children with communal life and show them that democracy also begins at school! The electoral campaigns led by these young candidates demonstrated creativity, motivation, and enthusiasm.
