This Wednesday, October 7th, the Children's Municipal Council (CCE) convened for the first time of the 2026-2027 school year. The returning councilors welcomed the newly elected 5th-grade representatives around a symbolic game: a ball of wool. By tossing the ball to each other, the children progressively wove a web, symbolizing the bonds that unite them and the importance of each individual within the group, reminding them that together, they can go further.
The year promises to be busy, with planned encounters, exchanges, civic actions, and notably, a major project that will engage the young elected officials over the coming months. In April, initiated by Agathe Destat, Alderman for Youth, Orp-Jauche will host the very first gathering of Children's Municipal Councils from eastern Walloon Brabant, with participation from several neighboring communes. This will be a significant collective challenge requiring investment, creativity, and a good dose of enthusiasm.
The 16 junior municipal councilors for the 2026-2027 period come from various municipal and private schools: Romane GRANDJEAN and Line BELGE (Folx-les-Caves Municipal School), Timéo VAN LAREBEKE (Jandrain Municipal School), Lola DUPUIS, Elisabeth HOYSEPYAN, and Eléanore HESSE (Jauche Municipal School), Louise COLLIN-HINQUE and Alix PETROFSKI (Noduwez Municipal School), Louise BOULIN, Rosalie DOCQUIER, and Anaïs BULTEAU (Orp-le-Grand Municipal School), Aliya PICCARELLE and Victoria ANCET (Saint-Joseph Private School of Orp), Joshua ACHOY HERNANDEZ ALBANO (Saint-Joseph Private School of Orp, change of school establishment), William LEGLISE VANNIER (Saint-Martin Private School of Jauche), and Alexis STANDAERT (Marilles Municipal School). Congratulations to all these young councilors for their commitment.
