Ten new sorting islands were installed in October in the villages of the municipality of Hélécine. The aim is to evaluate the effectiveness of the system and verify if the expected results are being met. The municipal technical service, in collaboration with the BeWaPP provider, is currently examining the results to improve public space sorting.
The success of this project also depends on citizen participation. Residents are reminded of the correct practices for sorting their waste in public spaces.
For PMC (blue bags and packaging), items such as plastic bottles and flasks, cans and food tins, beverage cartons, and other accepted plastic and metal packaging should be placed here. Packaging must be completely empty, not nested, and should not contain non-packaging plastic items.
Residual waste (black bin) includes soiled paper tissues and napkins, non-recyclable packaging, and small waste items that cannot be sorted into other streams.
Glass should be deposited in the designated glass banks, not in the sorting islands. Organic waste, such as peelings and food scraps, should use the appropriate collection system when available.
A few essential rules are to be followed: do not place any garbage bags at the foot of the bins, leave no waste next to the containers, respect the pictograms displayed on each bin, and in case of doubt, opt for the residual waste bin to avoid contaminating the sorted materials.
The municipality thanks citizens for their collaboration, emphasizing that every action counts towards improving sorting quality and maintaining the cleanliness of the villages.
