Precautionary measures include not smoking in forests, not discarding cigarette butts, glass bottles, or reflective objects near dry vegetation, and not lighting open fires in forest areas, fields, meadows, brushwood, embankments, and gardens. It is also advised to closely monitor braziers and barbecues, placing them in clear areas and near extinguishing equipment.
In case of any fire outbreak, it is crucial to contact 112 immediately.
The police order from the governor of Walloon Brabant, effective until October 1st, specifically aims to prevent fires in natural environments. Barbecues remain permitted if kept at a distance from vegetation and with precautions. Fireworks may be authorized by the mayor upon favorable opinion from the Rescue Zone, while lanterns are prohibited.
The situation will be reassessed in early October based on meteorological forecasts and reports from the Fire Risk Expertise Unit.
