On Sunday, October 4, 2026, the 'Journée Découverte Entreprises' (Company Discovery Day) will see Walloon companies open their doors to the public. The event aims to showcase the importance of employment, local know-how, and professions currently facing shortages. This initiative is supported by the SPW Économie Emploi Recherche (Walloon Public Service for Economy, Employment, and Research), which seeks to promote the region's business successes and innovations.
The SPW Économie Emploi Recherche is a key partner for this event, providing daily support to Walloon companies in their investments, research and innovation projects, recruitment efforts, and skills development. As highlighted by Lionel Bonjean, Director General of the SPW, in a special supplement published with Sudinfo, this support is crucial for creating sustainable jobs and fostering cutting-edge technologies.
Several companies have benefited from this regional support for their growth. In Champlon, Arnould expanded its infrastructure with investment and hiring aid. In Lambermont, Taipro Engineering consolidated its activities through investment and research support. In Louvain-la-Neuve, IBA is developing advanced technologies co-financed by Wallonia.
Other examples include TKM Industries in Liège, which received support for hosting an apprentice; Bonten in Aubel for modernizing its equipment; and ArcelorMittal Belgium in Flémalle for its research and innovation activities with the CRM Group.
In terms of socio-professional integration, Les Dauphins in Gembloux collaborates with Forma’Rive, a training and integration center supervised by the SPW. Similarly, Trait d’Union in Mouscron partners with Prorienta to bridge training and business needs. Murprotec in Frameries received aid for constructing a passive building.
