The concept of 'Magnet Hospitals', which emerged in the United States in the 1980s, will be the focus of a conference organized by CesiLux. This approach aims to boost the appeal of healthcare facilities for their professionals and improve patient outcomes.
The foundations of Magnet Hospitals are built on four pillars: strong leadership, increased autonomy for nursing staff, a limited patient-to-nurse ratio, and alignment between management's commitments and daily work realities. These principles help reduce burnout among nursing staff, stabilize medical teams, and elevate the quality of patient care.
The conference, taking place on Monday, November 23rd, at the administrative headquarters of HERS starting at 5:30 PM, will explore how these principles can be translated into current organizations. Professor Méryl Paquay from ULiège will present available data on the effects of this approach.
Other aspects will be covered, including current perspectives and the necessary conditions for building truly attractive, sustainable work environments that foster quality care.
